DOGS

Dogs are welcome onboard our ferries and travel free of charge. You must keep dogs on a lead in public places at all times including Ballycastle Harbour, onboard our vessels and on Rathlin Island.

For accurate information regarding where you can bring your dog whilst on Rathlin you should contact the RDCA on 02820760079 or rdcaoffice@gmail.com or you can also find useful island information at www.rathlincommunity.org

Dog Fouling = the offence of being in charge of a dog and failing to remove the faeces after it defecates in a public place.

It is a criminal offense to allow your dog to foul in a public place without removing it. Local councils can issue spot fines of £80 or prosecute you in court.

Dog fouling is a serious and ongoing problem in both the Ballycastle area and on Rathlin Island. This is simply a dog owners responsibility and it is unacceptable to allow dog fouling to happen.  It is unpleasant, unhygienic and one of the most infuriating things about using public places.  Please ensure you clean up after your dog and show respect to the public and public places.

If you require a poop bag whilst visiting us then please speak to any member of RIFL crew who will provide you with one. If you are out and about anywhere else in the world and find yourself without one just ask someone nearby or a nearby local business for help. There is nothing to be embarrassed about by lifting dog poo, it is an essential part of having a dog.

Let’s all do our bit to prevent dog fouling from ruining public places, public health, public morale and public shoes!
