Seabird Centre

A Seabird spectacular you don't want to miss

Once on Rathlin Island, head four miles west by privately operated bus, cycle or walk (approx 90 minute walk) to the RSPB Rathlin West Light Seabird Centre – home to Northern Ireland’s largest seabird colony.  In Summer, puffins, razorbills, fulmars, guillemots and kittiwakes gather in their thousands to jostle for position on the cliffs.  The best time to see the puffins is from late April to July.

Explore Rathlins unique ‘upside down’ lighthouse and learn about the history and the people of the island.  Please note there are 98 steps down the cliffside to the viewing platform and a further 64 steps to the bottom floor of the lighthouse.  Registered guide dogs can access the visitor centre.  Safe tie holds are provided for other dogs outside the visitor centre.
